Along with being the thinnest skin anywhere on the body, the skin under the eyes also has fewer oil-producing glands, meaning they’re often sensitive to dryness and irritation.
It’s no wonder dark spots and circles under the eyes can be one of the most common complaints for men and women of all ages. While they may simply be a sign of tiredness, dark spots aren’t always a result of sleepless nights or a stressful time.
Before addressing the treatment, it’s important to know the causes. Therefore, the examination of the area and
taking the medical history are very important.
– While dark circles are not usually a major health concern, they may indicate an underlying medical condition. such as anemia, or allergic rhinitis which are one of the causes.
– The other common causes can be tearing trough, superficial vessels, thin or skin laxity, and pigmentation which can be hereditary.
– Also, with aging our body starts to produce less collagen and we lose some of our fatty tissue. This can cause the skin around the eyes to thin, making the blood vessels underneath more prominent.
– People with a history of under-eye filler injection may have a blue color appearance under the eye which is called a Tyndall effect, that happens if HA is placed too superficially or in large amounts.
There is a misunderstanding of using filler for dark circle issues, that makes the condition even worse. Many people after years of filler injection have swelling under the eyes, thinking that it is a fat bag, and are aware that the filler may remain for a long time and may migrate from its place.
For treating tear trough, we need to inject filler deeply to avoid the risk of the Tyndall effect.
– In case of pigmentation, we advise doing chemical peel or PRP with mesotherapy to lighten the area.
– For skin laxity, prefer to do combined treatment of laser, RF micro-needling, and skin booster.
– If it is severe, or with fatty bags, Blepharoplasty is the solution.
– For people with thin skin and who have capillaries or vessels just below the skin’s surface, the IPL or laser treatment is the option.
The key to successfully treating the dark circle is the correct diagnosis.
