Post Instructions:

  • If bandage was placed on the area, DO NOT remove the bandage until the day after surgery.
  • If your bandage becomes soaked in blood then add more gauze to the bandage originally applied.
  • Remove the bandage the day after surgery AFTER you have showered.
  • Before applying antibiotic ointment and another bandage make sure the surrounding area is dry.
  • Change the bandage daily until your next appointment.
  • Ice the area for 10 minutes and take 600mg of ibuprofen every 8 hours only if you have pain.
  • Avoid direct sun exposure after procedure.
  • Avoid touching the area, except when you are cleaning it.
  • Avoid oral contact or contact with other people’s body fluids.
  • Avoid using any aftercare products or ointments that were not suggested by your doctor.
  • Avoid getting lotions and/or makeup in or around the area.
  • Avoid pools, hot tubs, lakes, rivers, etc. Using a waterproof, breathable bandage is a viable option.
