Disclaimer: You are not a candidate if you are pregnant, Active Herpes infection, keloid or have open sores in the treatment area.
Pre-Treatment Instructions:
- If you have a history of cold sores, please inform your provider prior to treatment. The doctor will need to write a prescription to pre-treat to eliminate the chances of you developing a cold sore post treatment.
- If you are having systemic lupus.
- Reschedule your appointment at least 48 hours in advance if you have a severe rash, cold sore or blemish in the treatment area.
- If you have a history of keloid or family history of keloid, please inform your provider prior to the treatment.
- Do NOT use the following products 3 days prior or 3 days after your treatment (or until pinkness has subsided): Retin-A, retinoids, or similar vitamin A compounds, harsh scrubs or exfoliating products and bleaching creams (unless instructed otherwise by your provider).
- Discontinue Accutane/Roaccutane 4-6 months prior to treatment or consult your dermatologist for an advice.
- Advise the patient in the weeks prior to the procedure to avoid skin irritation or tanning, and to discontinue any irritant topical agent.
- The patient should arrive for treatment with clean skin. No lotion, make-up, perfume, powder,
- bath/shower oil should be present on the area to be treated.
- Apply topical aesthetics, if needed.
- Before each treatment, please inform us if you are taking any new antibiotics or medications as they may make your skin photosensitive and therefore, we may not be able to treat you for one to two weeks after completion of the medication.
Post-Treatment Instructions:
- Patients may experience a burning sensation for 1-2 hours immediately after the treatment Cooling with an ice pack can provide relief to the treated area.
- You may return in your normal daily activities immediately after your treatment.
- For treatment of vascular lesions and pigmented lesions it is recommended to apply Aquaphor 3-4 times daily up to 7days. Avoid picking the treatment site or scrabs which can lead to scars.
- A good skincare regimen is a perfect compliment. Synergy of using skin care products is important and can enhance skin results.
- To achieve the best result, complete the full treatment schedule at the recommended treatment intervals.
- Keep the treatment area moisturized. After the first day, gently wash and pat the skin dry for two days. Do not scrub the treated area.
- Moisturize daily. Usually, any crust will fall off naturally within 5-7 days after the treatment. Do not be tempted to remove it forcibly.
- Please do not use cosmetics which contain active ingredients such as Retinol or AHA after treatment without prior permission from the doctor.
- Avoid exercising for the 48 to 72 hrs post-treatment or until initial healing has occurred.
- Increased redness may result from any activity that increases blood flow or body temperature (e.g., alcohol consumption, exercise, and sauna).
- Avoid using cosmetics containing alcohol for at least 1 week after treatment.
- For at least 20 days after treatment, apply a UV A/B sunblock daily with an SPF of at least 50 and PA+++.
- Use an umbrella, hat or any other available protection against sunlight while spending time outdoors.
